Tender for the Pipeline Relocation Contract opened on March 20, 2007 and closed on April 3, 2007.

Tender for the main Interchange Construction Contract (secondary drainage, roadways, retaining walls, and bridges) opened on March 20, 2007 and closed on June 20, 2007.

Contracts Awarded
The single largest contract for the construction of the interchange has been recently awarded to Kiewit Management Co. Kiewit will be responsible for the construction of all grading, retaining walls, noise fences and walls, secondary drainage works, five separate bridges, and all new interchange ramps and roadworks. The work contained in this contract is expected to take three years to complete.

Schedule and Phasing
Construction of the major interchange is scheduled for a four year period from October 2007 through 2011. The majority of interchange construction is expected to be complete in the first three years and the interchange is expected to be functional by the end of 2010. In 2011, the grades and cross-sections of the Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail roadways through the interchange area will be modified, thereby completing the work. Construction each year begins in the spring, early to mid April, weather permitting, and ends in late October or early November, depending on the weather. Structural work continues over the winter.
